Is there a better way than bidding?

Titan Cleaning Services has close to two dozen cleaning accounts.  They range from small office spaces to multi-level condo buildings.  This past year we bid on close to 40 jobs all varying in size.  Typically business call to gets estimates because they are not happy with the current level of cleaning taking place.  Typically, paper and debris left week after week, no shows on the day(s) cleaning was needed, kitchen counters left a mess and bathroom floors with staining.

Often we get told that we are one of a few businesses being called to bid.  The reason for this is to price check and usually that means the lowest bidder will get the job.  However, why cant a different approach be taken.

Disclosing the budget requirements for cleaning either up front or at the end of the property inspection can actually be a good thing.  For example if we go to a facility that is 6,000 sq ft and they are looking for cleanings twice a week we would figure out what else is needed during each cleaning, review staffing, review overhead to clean the job etc. and then we would email a quote.  What if every cleaning company is higher than what you are paying now and or you like a company that you spoke to but still need to go with the lowest bidder?  Now you either stay with the company that does a terrible job but charges less or have to change your budget.

For us if the job meets our availability and location requirements as well as seems to be a fairly straight forward cleaning job we would be willing to work with you on the cost.  We want want to make money just as much as you want to save money.  On occasion when we get told what the budget is the figure is higher than what we would charge anyways.  Now its a win win because you get the company you like and trust and we get a great fitting job at a price that meets our businesses requirements.

Best ways to clean office spaces and commercial buildings

This is the best time of year to review your businesses existing and potentially new cleaning needs. Office moral can be boosted when certain trouble areas are tended to more frequently.  We are often asked to bid on cleaning offices bathrooms, kitchen areas, light dust and vacuum. Usually every office wants the same things cleaned.  A suggestion we have would be to send an email to employees asking what they may like done in addition to what is already being cleaned.  Also, what do they notice doesn't get cleaned or keeps getting missed by the current cleaning company.  This email can then be used to address your current cleaning company on what they can do better and potentially what they could add additionally when they come to clean.  Typically vacuuming under the desk is often on the list of employee complaints but you may be surprised what else shows up.  Employees that enjoy coffee may enjoy having a really clean and organized coffee areas.  Others may enjoy a better dus

Cleaning Mirrors and Light Bulbs

Let's start with mirrors.  It seems as though mirrors over sinks can have but not limited to hair, tooth paste, lipstick, oil, dust and other things.  I have been using a Rubbermaid microfiber glass cleaning cloth and just a small amount of Windex to clean all this and it works great.  The cloth leaves no streakes or lint and it can be washed about 300 times.  This works on Windows as well but I'll leave that topic alone for now.  With regards to cleaning light bulbs, the key is to clean them cold so shut them off first.  The hardest lightbulbs to clean are the new LED lights so this post is in regards to cleaning them. They don't wipe clean cold or hot.  The key is to unscrew them and use a small amount of goo-off or goo-gone.  Use a super small amount and use the glass microfiber towel to wipe it clean.  All the hair and lint will just wipe off.  If you use a dry cloth or even water the LED bulbs rubber like surface will prevent it from being cleaned.
